What companies have authorized 3D hole pattern licenses?

The 3D hole pattern was developed by Burton Snowboards and has only ever been available on Burton products; there are currently no other brands, companies, or manufacturers that are licensed to use the 3D hole pattern.

Note: To ensure that your bindings are compatible with your snowboard, consider pairing Burton products together.

Most other snowboard brands utilize a 4 hole pattern that is not compatible with Burton’s 3D hole pattern binding discs. Some snowboard manufacturers offer binding adapter discs that allow non-Burton bindings to be mounted to a 3D hole pattern Burton snowboard; please note we cannot guarantee the safety or performance of this setup.

Alternatively, most non-EST Burton bindings can accept a 4 hole pattern disc that allows them to be mounted to a non-Burton snowboard. EST snowboard bindings can only be mounted to snowboards with The Channel.

3D Hole Pattern vs The Channel®

The 3D hole pattern was phased out in 2014 with the introduction of The Channel® Board Mount. Since then, Burton has only produced adult snowboards that feature The Channel technology (some kids' snowboards include a variation of the 3D hole pattern). With the elimination of the 3D hole pattern, Burton introduced Re:Flex snowboard bindings that are able to be mounted to any standard 4 hole pattern snowboard, using the included set of adapter discs. Side note: As part of our sustainability initiative, we have combined several mounting options into one adapter disc to eliminate the need for multiple parts (that just end up sitting around when not in use) and reduce the amount of resources needed to get you out riding.
